Trifun Events is pleased to announce another competitor focused innovation, the HBT eCoupon book. To be released in December these booklets of discount and special offer coupons will be e-mailed to competitors upon registration for events at the 2012 2XU Hervey Bay Triathlon & BMee GoKids! Triathlon (existing entrants will receive theirs in December). The eCoupon book will comprise a collection of discount and special offer coupons for local attractions and event sponsors. Be delivering these offers to competitors before they leave home they will be able to plan or extend their stay to ensure that they are able to better appreciate the attractions on offer on the Fraser Coast.
Validity dates for the offers will be at the discretion of the individual operators but it is anticipated that the coupons would be valid for a period of weeks either side of the event weekend. Some coupons will personalised with sufficient competitor details to prevent duplication. The complete eBook will be e-mailed to competitors in a full colour secure PDF format.
We believe that this will enable competitors to overcome the problem of arriving home and then finding they missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime when reading the weekend’s hand-outs in the bottom of their bags. More details shortly.

Here at Trifun Events we love tech and we love sport (1/2 our committee met while studying for BIT) - so here is another first for HBT - for 2'12 the finish line clock will adjust for each finisher so that it shows the actual finishing time - in both directions - one so you can see it as you come down the finishing straight, the other so that it is correct in the finish line photos.
24/6/2011
Just thought we should mention a special rule we have here at HBT - you CAN transfer your entry to another competitor if for some reason you can't come (you just need to follow our transfer procedure that's all). We are triathletes, we understand you don't want to miss out but sometimes things happen. See the terms and conditions for all the info.
10/6/2011
HBT 2012 - Sunday April 22, entries opening 11/6/2011!
Thanks to all the people who took the time to complete the satisfaction survey. We have listened and are pleased to bring the following news...
For all those who wanted one, there will be ocean swims on Saturday 21st April as HBT aligns with the HBSLSC's 14th annual Torquay Hotel Pier to Pub 3.4km Ocean Swim (1.6k swim also available).
Other improvements:
- Transition will be moving 30m to the east for 2012, this will:
- lengthen the braking area coming off the round-a-bout at the end of the second lap and
- shorten the run to the mount line
- Rego inside the (bigger) expo tent
- More merchandise options (like a running cap, long sleeve run shirt etc)
- Full service bike exhibitor in the expo
- Race start at 7:30am - more time to rack in daylight!
- A shorter mow on the grass in the transition area
- Clearly signed, category specific bike racks
- Swim start marshalling will be in the grassy area not on the beach.
- Designated prestart warm up area 50m east of swim start with separate beach access.
- Extra run course marshals to reduce pedestrians wandering onto the run course (and at the turn around).
- One extra drink station at 500m/9.4km on the run (for a total of 8 over 10km!)
- More signage (distance markers etc) on run and cycle courses
- More shade tents in the recovery area.
- Looking for a couple of large buoys for the last section of the swim to make them easier to see.
- Single presentations - 1hr closer to the conclusion of the race
- Another "ready to race" tri bike in the random draw ( maybe two)
- We dropped the "flash" animation from the front of the web site for faster load times
- Competitor entry list is now live - you should see you're details there as soon as you finish the online entry process
(you can even check out the opposition as the fields are sortable)
- A kids race is still being contemplated - if we can fit one in, we will.
- Plus many more little tweaks to ensure your event experience is the beast it possibly can be :)
